Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to a new academic year at The Priory Parish Church of England Primary School. I still feel extremely proud and privileged to be appointed as Head teacher in 2016.

All of the staff in our school work extremely hard to provide a learning environment which is exciting, challenging and above all else - fun! Whilst the academic development of the children is a key priority within school the staff work hard to ensure that children’s spiritual, moral, emotional, social and personal developmental needs are also nurtured.

Our last OFSTED inspection and Church SIAMS inspection judged the school to be good in both areas. Although we were pleased with the positive feedback we received we are relentless in our pursuit of improvement and the very best for the children and community we serve. We want very much to work closely with parents in order for the children to reach their true potential. Last year we were very concerned about our levels of attendance. This simply must improve in order for children to succeed.

Our school is very closely linked to the local church -Christ the King on Beckwith Street. The school enjoys a very close relationship with the church and make regular visits there with all the children. Members of the clergy also visit the school twice a week to lead collective worship and to offer a caring ear to any child or member of staff who needs a quiet word or run Kidzone.

You are most welcome to arrange a visit to experience the school for yourself. I will always endeavour to make myself available to answer any questions or discuss issues as they arise."
